Rivaldo named in Bafana starting lineup



Bafana Bafana coach Ephraim Shakes Mashaba has named a squad mixed with youth and experience for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo later on Saturday.

Ajax Cape Town central defender Rivaldo Coetzee is set to become the youngest ever player to start for Bafana when he makes his debut in Pointe-Noire. 

Coetzee who becomes the 350th player to don the Bafana jersey since 1992 will only be 17 years, 11 months, 26 days old. 

The current record is currently held by former Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena who made his senior national team debut when he was 18 years, two months, 26 days old.

Senzo Meyiwa retained his place in goals as well as the captain’s armband. Thulani Serero also makes a return to the line-up, after missing the two opening matches against Sudan and Nigeria in September.
